Colours of Contact Lenses – Get Lost in those Purple(?) Eyes

Nowadays, there are many colours of contact lenses available to suit your every mood.

If you only want a slight eye color change, then contact lens colours generally fall under two categories: opaque contacts (for darker eyes) and enhancer contacts (for light eyes).

However, if you want a change that will cause heads to turn your way, go for wild colors that introduce a hint of green, purple or even yellow in your eyes.

Colored Contact Lenses – Taking the Boredom Out of your Contacts

A subtle color shading in your lenses can drastically change your appearance.

So if you want to try something new or are simply bored with the contacts you are wearing now then start looking for the colored pair that suits you.

Online sites can really be a big help in deciding which colored lens to choose.

For instance, if you are unsure of the color that would best suit your natural eye color, many contact lens websites have an online eye color palette you can use.

Simply click the color that closely resembles your natural eye color and a list of colored contact lenses (and how they would look on you) are shown.

Select the one you like best and simply order online.

It really can’t get any easier than that.

Colored lenses are also extremely popular during parties.

If you’re having a Halloween or any type of masquerade or costume ball, shock friends by showing up with eye lenses that sport zebra stripes or resemble a cat’s eye.

Indeed, colored lenses have never been this fun!

Masters Graduation Gown

A Masters Graduation gown is the type of gown that is worn by the graduates who are about to receive the masters degree from a university. This gown is worn during the graduation ceremony or on any other special occasion that the institution has. The Masters Graduation gown consists of long sleeves which are closed towards the end, and the arm going through a slit found above the elbow. The gowns have a yoke which may be found in two types. There is the traditional curved yoke and there is the more modernized yoke that is straight or square. This type of gown is similar to the lay gown because of the length of the sleeves. The only difference is that the lay gown does not have a yoke. The

masters graduation gown
differs depending on the region one is coming from. For instance, the gowns worn by the Americans are quite different from the ones worn in the Commonwealth. The Americans adorn their gowns closed at the front while in the commonwealth, the gowns are open. The gown may have certain items like strings that are used as indicators to the qualification that one has achieved and to signify membership of a certain institution. There are also those used just as a measure of decoration.Irrespective of the type of masters gown selected, it is vital to go for the best and make the graduation day colorful, glamorous and memorable.

Coping with Myopia

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

One of the most commonplace reasons for being prescribed spectacles is shortsightedness

shortsightedness is another word for nearsightedness. So a nearsighted person sees best when looking up close, however when looking into the distance – struggles to focus. Nobody really understands why one person becomes myopic, there is likely to be a combination of gene problems and environmental elements.

How shortsighted you are is determined by how badly working the cornea and lens of the eye are – as well as how long your eye balls are! Normally, the eye processes a visual light image by interpreting the light signals and transmitting them into electrical signals in the retina. If the eyes focus the light ahead of time, you are shortsighted.

Unlike many other aspects in life, myopia tends to improve with time. Nobody is definitely sure as to why this is, on the other hand it may be the lens becomes stiffer with age and so can not focus the rays of light so acutely. What then follows is the focal point of the light, becomes closer and closer to the retina.

myopia affects about 25% of Americans.

Using a variety of techniques, trained eye care practitioners can assess whether or not a child is able to focus clearly. They use play, retinoscopy and refraction to help them do this carefully.

The type and extent of shortsightedness is determined by additional testing. These tests include an evaluation of the child’s binocular vision, his eye movements, his ability to converge and focus on objects close-up, and his ocular health. Dilation of the eye allows the doctor to check for complications of ROP, diabetes, or degenerative shortsightedness.

There are many children who will be falsely assessed to be shortsighted, because of their natural tendency to over focus. To counter this, a trained eye pratitioner will often elect to dilate the pupils with some eye drops to prevent the child’s lenses from over correcting.

shortsightedness is most commonly treated with spectacles or specs. myopia in preschool children does not need to be corrected with glasses, unless either anisometropia, a condition in which there is a difference of more than 1.00 diopters between the two eyes, or amblyopia, a condition in which a child cannot be corrected to 20/20 with spectacles, is present.

As the child enters school, distance vision becomes critical for learning, and children with prescriptions of at least 1.00 diopter of nearsightedness or who have 20/40 vision or worse should be given glasses. Once a child is diagnosed with shortsightedness, he or she should be examined every six months to a year, and each eye should be corrected to 20/20 at each visit.

The eyeglasses are then usually worn full time, except for children with difficulty with convergence (esophoria), who may remove their spectacles for close work.

The History of the Baseball Uniform

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

As long as there have been baseball games played, teams have worn some sort of Baseball Uniform. The uniform gives the team an identity and wearing the team’s colors is not just for the players, fans get in the spirit by wearing the team’s colors or even replica jerseys but the baseball players are the ones who wear the official Baseball Uniform.

The New York Knickerbockers Baseball Club was the first organized team known to wear matching uniforms when they wore matching white flannel shirts, wool pants, and straw hats in 1849. Although the uniforms did match the players found the uniforms to be restrictive limiting their mobility and work began on a new and improved Baseball Uniform that would allow more freedom of movement as well as a good look for the team.

Today the Baseball Jersey is a very important part of the game as are the Baseball Pants. On the jersey you find the team name, the players last name, and the number of the player. Also found is a patch that designates the league the team is a part of and an special patches that the team may be authorized to wear.

While the Baseball Pants usually do not have any insignia on them they are very functional in nature. When a player has to dive or slide the Baseball Pants protect the player from injury. Many types of Baseball Pants have extra padding and support on the areas a player will be sliding to help protect them during the slide.

The Baseball Uniform has come a long way since it was first worn in 1849.
