Water in the Office Please

A water cooler is one of the most vital accessories in any office. It is important for staff to have regular access to drinking water for numerous reasons. On top of that, it is illegal for this access to be prevented in any way. The water cooler not only provides a meeting place from colleagues around which many a productive discussion or debate can take place, it also gives people the opportunity to regularly stretch their legs, thus prohibiting the possibility of any illnesses or injuries occurring due to remaining in a fixed position for the duration of the day. A lack of water can also drastically effect levels of performance in staff. Dehydration reduces the length concentration spans, sometimes by as much as sixty or seventy percent, it also causes fatigue, again which hinders performance, slowing down the brains reaction times. Sustained periods of dehydration can also have more serious effects. The immune system cannot work to its optimum levels, so colds and flu come around more often, ad symptoms last considerably longer. It is in employers’ best interests to water their staff so that the number of sick days taken every year is reduced, causing a smaller loss of money for the company.
